About the project

We teamed up with Roche Bobois to create CORAIL, a world-first in the furniture industry: a dining table featuring a fully customizable, bio-inspired 3D-printed concrete base. Modeled after the beautiful, organic shapes of coral colonies and baroque shells, each table is a unique piece of functional art printed layer-by-layer using Printed High-Performance Concrete.

What makes this project super exciting is how it fulfills the promise of true mass customization. Customers can use a custom software tool, either at home or in-store, to tweak the table's shape, size, and texture (like adding a cool weaving effect) in real time. That design generates a unique "genetic code" file that goes straight to our printer. It’s a flawless, automated file-to-factory process where no two bases are the same, completely skipping the need for traditional, static molds.

Beyond the design freedom, this workflow opens up incredible ecological virtues. Instead of shipping a massive, heavy concrete table base across the globe, we can simply send the digital file. A local printer equipped with our technology can manufacture the base right where the customer is, drastically cutting down transport emissions and proving that global luxury design can be highly sustainable.
