3D-printed concrete marine modules

“By combining large-scale 3D concrete printing with low-carbon materials, these custom marine modules create new habitats for underwater ecosystems while supporting sustainable maritime development”
About the project

Developed by 3D Concrete in collaboration with LineUp Ocean, this project uses large-scale 3D concrete printing to create custom marine modules that support biodiversity and sustainable maritime development.

The project includes ecological ballast blocks for underwater installations and artificial reefs designed to provide shelter for marine species. Thanks to additive manufacturing, complex geometries with cavities and textured surfaces can be produced, encouraging the colonization of algae, microorganisms, and marine life.

Made from low-carbon concrete and tailored to local environmental conditions, these modules demonstrate how 3D concrete printing can contribute to marine ecosystem restoration and ecological innovation.
